Atonement

"An atonement was made. Ever and always it offers amnesty from transgression and from death if we will but repent. Repentance is the escape clause in it all. Repentance is the key with which we can unlock the prison from inside. We hold that key within our hands, and agency is ours to use it."
-President Boyd K. Packer, "Atonement, Agency, Accountability" April 1988 General Conference

"Think of the Savior in the Garden of Gethsemane during the Atonement process, suffering agony so great that He bled from every pore[.....]I testify that the Atonement of Jesus Christ covers all of the trials and hardships that any of us will encounter in this life. At times when we may feel to say, "hope you know, I had a hard time," we can be assured that He is there and we are safe in His loving arms. "
-Elder Quentin L. Cook, “Hope Ya Know, We Had a Hard Time”, Conference, October 2008

"It is my testimony that many of the deepest regrets of tomorrow can be prevented by following the Savior today. If we have sinned or made mistakes—if we have made choices that we now regret-there is the precious gift of Christ’s Atonement, through which we can be forgiven. We cannot go back in time and change the past, but we can repent."
-President Deiter F. Utchdorf, "Of Resolutions and Regrets", General Conference, October 2012

"Do not misunderstand. Repentance is not easy or painless or convenient. It is a bitter cup from Hell. But only Satan, who dwells there, would have you think that a necessary and required acknowledgment is more distasteful than permanent residence. Only he would say, “You can’t change. You won’t change. It’s too long and too hard to change. Give up. Give in. Don’t repent. You are just the way you are.” That, my friends, is a lie born of desperation. Don’t fall for it."
-Elder Jeffery R. Holland, "For Times of Trouble", March 1980 BYU Devotional

"Even with the trials of life, because of the Savior's Atonment and His grace, righteous living will be rewarded with personal peace. "
-Elder Quentin L. Cook, "Personal Peace: The Reward of Righteousness", General Conference, April 2013

"If you have repented from serious transgression and mistakenly believe that you will always be a second-class citizen in the kingdom of God, learn that is not true. The Savior said: ‘Behold, he who has repented of his sins, the same is forgiven, and I, the Lord, remember them no more. ‘By this ye may know if a man repenteth of his sins–behold, he will confess them and forsake them. "
-Elder Richard G. Scott, "The Path to Peace and Joy",  General Conference, October 2000

"The cumulative weight of all mortal sins- past, present, and future- pressed upon that perfect, sinless, and sensitive Soul! All our infirmities and sicknesses were somehow, too, a part of the awful arithmetic of the Atonement."
-Elder Neal A. Maxwell, Ensign, May 1985, p.73

"The Savior's Atonement lifts from us not only the burden of our sins but also the burden of our disappointments and sorrows, our heartaches and our despair. I promise you He is not going to turn His back on us now. When He says to the poor in spirit, "Come unto me," He means He knows  the way out and He knows the way up. He knows it because He has walked it. He knows the way because He is the way."
-Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, "Broken Things to Mend", April 2006 General Conference

"The Atonement of Jesus Christ became the immortal creation. He volunteered to answer the ends of a law previously transgressed. 15 And by the shedding of His blood, His 16 and our physical bodies could become perfected. They could again function without blood, just as Adam’s and Eve’s did in their paradisiacal form."
-Elder Russell M. Nelson, "The Atonement", General Conference, October 1996

"Jesus was the only one who could offer such an infinite atonement, since He was born of a mortal mother and an immortal Father. Because of that unique birthright, Jesus was an infinite Being."
-Elder Russell M. Nelson, "The Atonement", General Conference, October 1996

"The purposes of the Creation, the Fall, and the Atonement all converge on the sacred work done in temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The earth was created and the Church was restored to make possible the sealing of wife to husband, children to parents, families to progenitors, worlds without end. "
-Elder Russell M. Nelson, "The Atonement", General Conference, October 1996

To be redeemed is to be atoned—received in the close embrace of God with an expression not only of His forgiveness, but of our oneness of heart and mind. What a privilege! And what a comfort to those of us with loved ones who have already passed from our family circle through the gateway we call death!
-Elder Russell M. Nelson, "The Atonement", General Conference, October 1996

My thoughts
I have a testimony that as we do the things the Lord would see pleasing for us, we can be blessed with the peace that is only possible through the Atonement of Christ. He is the source of our happiness and wants for us to be happy. As we strive to seek the Lord, he will strengthen us and our potential to become the person he wants us to be. Elder Richard G. Scott counsels us in, "For Peace at Home", to make certain that we base our decisions we make on what the Savior would have us do. It is only when we recognize his sacrifice on our behalf that we can see the enormity of the Atonement. Having a testimony of His love for us helps me to want to make my Father in Heaven proud.
