Judgement

“This topic of judging others could actually be taught in a two-word sermon,” he said. “When it comes to hating, gossiping, ignoring, ridiculing, holding grudges, or wanting to cause harm—please apply the following: Stop it!” President Dieter F. Uchtdorf April 2012 Sunday morning General Conference “Nevertheless, we must let go of our grievances. Part of the purpose of mortality is to learn how to let go of such things. That is the Lord’s way."
-President Dieter F. Uchtdorf April 2012 Sunday morning General Conference

“Recognize the good in others, not their stains.”
-Elder Richard G. Scott, April 2013 general Conference

"Heavenly Father's interest in you does not depend on how rich or beautiful or healthy or smart you are. He sees you not as the world sees you; He sees who you really are. He looks on your heart."
-President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, "your Wonderful Journey Home", April 2013 General Conference, Young Women Meeting

"This topic of judging others could actually be taught in a two-word sermon. When it comes to hating, gossiping, ignoring, ridiculing, holding grudges, or wanting to cause harm, please apply the following: Stop it!"
-Pres. Dieter F. Uchtdorf, "The Merciful Obtain Mercy". April 2012 General Conference

"Since mortals cannot suppose that they will be acting as final judges at that future, sacred time, why did the Savior command that we not judge final judgments? I believe this commandment was given because we presume to make final judgments whenever we proclaim that any particular person is going to hell (or to heaven) for a particular act or as of a particular time. When we do this—and there is great temptation to do so—we hurt ourselves and the person we pretend to judge."
-Elder Dallin H. Oaks, ""Judge Not" and Judging", August 1999 Ensign

"Thus, we must refrain from making final judgments on people because we lack the knowledge and the wisdom to do so. We would even apply the wrong standards. The world’s way is to judge competitively between winners and losers. The Lord’s way of final judgment will be to apply His perfect knowledge of the law a person has received and to judge on the basis of that person’s circumstances, motives, and actions throughout his or her entire life."
-Elder Dallin H. Oaks, ""Judge Not" and Judging", August 1999 Ensign

"Don't judge someone just because they sin differently than you. "
-Pres. Dieter F. Uchtdorf, "The Merciful Obtain Mercy". April 2012 General Conference

"Are we looking through a window which needs cleaning? Are we making judgments when we do not have all the facts?"
-Pres. Thomas S. Monson, "Charity Never Faileth", Ensign, Nov. 2010

"True love can alter human lives and change human nature."
-Pres. Thomas S. Monson, "May You Have Courage", April 2009 General Conference

"May I speak first about the courage to refrain from judging others. Oh, you may ask, “Does this really take courage?” And I would reply that I believe there are many times when refraining from judgment—or gossip or criticism, which are certainly akin to judgment—takes an act of courage."
-Pres. Thomas S. Monson, "May You Have Courage", April 2009 General Conference

My thoughts
When I was sitting in front of the television watching the conference talk given by President Uchtdorf, titled, "The Merciful Obtain Mercy", I remember feeling such a burning sensation in my chest when he spoke the words, "Stop it!". I knew I was needing to hear this message now more than ever. Judging others is something that I struggle with, and sometimes still do. I love that our church counsels us time and time again that our role is to bring people to Christ, rather than to place judgment on them. I feel I am learning over time how to overcome judgment from others and not place it on those I meet. We first need to make sure we are living righteously and recognize that we don't always know the details in other peoples lives to make judgments on them.
