Enduring

"With gospel perspective, we can know that when we endure to the very end, we are actually enduring to the very beginning. Thus, rather than viewing this virtue as delivering us expiring in exhaustion to a finish line, we are brought intact and victorious to a starting line!
-Elder Neil A. Maxwell (Press Forward, p. 112.)

"It was meant to be that life would be a challenge. To suffer some anxiety, some depression, even some failure is normal. If you have a good, miserable day once in a while- or several in a row- stand steady and face them. Things will straighten out. There is great purpose in our struggle in life."
-Pres. Boyd K. Packer, "Solving Emotional Problems in the Lord’s Own Way", General Conference, April 1978

"When faced with a trial of faith—whatever you do, you don’t step away from the Church! Distancing yourself from the kingdom of God during a trial of faith is like leaving the safety of a secure storm cellar just as the tornado comes into view."

-Neil L. Anderson, "Trial of Your Faith", Conference October 2012

"You and I have faith that the way to rise through and above trials is to believe that there is a “balm in Gilead” and that the Lord has promised, “I will not … forsake thee… If the foundation of faith is not embedded in our hearts, the power to endure will crumble."
-Pres. Henry B. Eyring, "Mountains To Climb", Conference, April 2012

"Life is to be enjoyed, not just endured."
-Pres. Gordon B. Hinkley, "Stand True and Faithful"Ensign,  May 1996

"Patience is not simply enduring;it is enduring it well!
-Pres. Dieter F. Uchtdorf, "Continue in Patience" April 2010 General Conference

"Jesus Christ endured incomprehensible suffering to  make himself sacrifice for all."
-Elder Dallin H. Oaks,"Sacrifice", April 2012 General Conference

"Enduring to the end is a process filling every minute of our life every hour every day from sunrise to sunrise. It is accomplished through personal discipline following the commandments of God."

-Pres. Dieter F. Uchtdorf, "Have we Not Reason to Rejoice?", Ensign, Nov. 2007

"Enduring to the end implies "patient continuance in well doing, striving to keep the commandments, and doing the works of righteousness. It requires sacrifice and hard work."

-Pres. Dieter F. Uchtdorf, "Have we Not Reason to Rejoice?", Ensign, Nov. 2007

"Endurance is more than pacing up and down within the cell of our circumstance; it is not only acceptance of the things allotted to us, it is to “act for ourselves” by magnifying what is allotted to us. (See Alma 29:3, 6.)"
-Elder Neal A. Maxwell, "Endure it Well", April 1990 General Conference

My Thoughts
Enduring life has taken on a new meaning for me. I recognize that throughout my life, I have been one to complain. Actually, I didn't realize I complained so much until I spent time around faithful members of the church and noticed they almost always had positive things to say about seemingly negative situations. We can do that?, I would ask myself. I know that may seen odd, but I didn't realize the importance of turning negatives into positives. Enduring, to me, means that I will focus my life on the positives and always do what I can to avoid negativity. I've noticed that as I work to be more positive, it makes those around me do the same.
