Self-Worth

"My dear sisters, do not pray for tasks equal to your abilities, but pray for abilities equal to your tasks. Then the performance of your tasks will be no miracle, but you will be the miracle."
-Thomas S. Monson General Conference 2007

"Some among us mistakenly see the size and response of their audiences as the sole verification of their worth! Yet those fickle galleries to which we sometimes play have a way of being rotated and emptied. They will surely be empty on Judgment Day; everyone will be somewhere else-on their knees. "

-Neil A Maxwell, (Men and Women, p. 64.)

"Serving God and our fellowmen will challenge us and transform us into something greater than we ever thought possible."

-President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, "Four Titles" April 2013 General Conference Priesthood Session

"With every step we take following the Son of God, we may be reminded that we are not perfect yet. But let us be steadfast and constant disciples. Let us not give up. Let us be true to our covenants."

-President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, "Four Titles" April 2013 General Conference Priesthood Session

“The battle for self-discipline may leave you a bit bruised and battered but always a better person. Self-discipline is a rigorous process at best; too many of us want it to be effortless and painless. Should temporary setbacks afflict us, a very significant part of our struggle for self-discipline is the determination and the courage to try again....Eternal life in the kingdom of our Father is your goal, and self-discipline will surely be required if you are to achieve it.”

-Thomas S. Monson, "Pathways to Perfection", Ensign, May 2002, 100-101

“A mother-daughter relationship is where a daughter learns how to nurture by being nurtured. She is loved. She is taught and experiences firsthand what it feels like to have someone care about her enough to correct her while continuing to encourage and believe in her at the same time.”
-M. Russell Ballard, "Mothers and Daughters", April 2010 General Conference

“Popular culture today often makes women look silly, inconsequential, mindless, and powerless. It objectifies them and disrespects them and then suggests that they are able to leave their mark on mankind only by seduction—easily the most pervasively dangerous message the adversary sends to women about themselves.”
-M. Russell Ballard, "Mothers and Daughters", April 2010 General Conference

“[…] as the literal spirit children of our loving Heavenly Father, we have unlimited, divine potential. But if we are not careful, we can become like the wilted tomato plant. We can drift away from the true doctrine and gospel of Christ and become spiritually undernourished and wilted, having removed ourselves from the divine light and living waters of the Savior’s eternal love and priesthood power.”
-M. Russell Ballard, "This is my Work and Glory", April 2013 General Conference

“Pure love is an incomparable, potent power for good. Righteous love is the foundation of a successful marriage. It is the primary cause of contented, well-developed children.”
-Elder Richard G. Scott, "The Eternal Blessings of Marriage", April 2011 General Conference

“Hard-earned achievement brings a sense of self-worth. Work builds and refines character, creates beauty, and is the instrument of our service to one another and to God. A consecrated life is filled with work, sometimes repetitive, sometimes menial, sometimes unappreciated but always work that improves, orders, sustains, lifts, ministers, aspires.”
-Elder D. Todd Christofferson, "Reflections of a Consecrated Life", October 2010 General Conference

My Thoughts

What am I worth? What does the world thing of me? Who do I need to be in order to please the Lord. These questions all flowed through my mind as I prepared to gather quotes for this section. As a convert, I never really understood why I couldn't accept myself as just wanting to be a stay at home mom. I am so grateful to have found the gospel and to know that a mom is the most glorified calling I can have. In order to build up my children and those around me, it's important for me to know that I have value just as I am. Showing love to others, especially my children, is what will build their character and place them on the path to know they are daughters of Heavenly Father. I want my children to have a strong testimony of the person they are, that they recognize, as I have, our Father in Heaven wants what is best for us and we are enough.
